Introduction
RH Studio ("we," "us," "our") develops Calculator Lock (the "App"), an Android application that presents itself as a working calculator while providing a private, PIN-protected vault for photos, videos, and documents. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and the choices available to you as a user.
By downloading, installing, or using Calculator Lock, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
Information We Collect
We separate this into two categories: information we collect directly, and information collected by third-party SDKs embedded in the App.
| Source | What is collected |
|---|---|
| Directly by RH Studio | Nothing. We do not operate any server that receives your vault content, PIN, biometric data, or personal identity. No account or registration is required to use the App. |
| Via Google AdMob (ads SDK) | Advertising identifier, device/network information, and general usage signals used to serve and measure ads, governed by Google's own privacy practices. |
| Via Firebase App Check | Device integrity signals (via reCAPTCHA) used solely to confirm that requests originate from a genuine, unmodified copy of the App, in order to prevent abuse. |
We built Calculator Lock so that the sensitive part of the app — your hidden vault — never has to talk to us. Everything you lock away stays on your phone.
Permissions We Request and Why
Android requires apps to explicitly request permissions before accessing certain device capabilities. Here is exactly why Calculator Lock asks for each one:
Used only for the optional Intruder Detection feature. If someone enters the wrong PIN to unlock your vault, the front camera silently captures a photo of them. That photo is saved inside your local vault only — it is never uploaded or sent to us.
Needed so you can import photos, videos, and documents from your device into the encrypted vault, and so the App can securely hide them from your regular gallery and file browser.
Powers the optional App Lock feature. The App checks which app is currently in the foreground on your device so it knows when to show the PIN screen over an app you've chosen to protect (e.g., Gallery, WhatsApp).
Also required for App Lock — it lets the App draw the PIN/pattern/biometric lock screen on top of the protected app before its content becomes visible.
An optional, faster alternative to typing your PIN. Your fingerprint data is handled entirely by Android's secure hardware layer — the App never sees or stores the raw biometric data itself.
Required by Google AdMob to request and display banner, app-open, and rewarded ads, and to check connectivity before doing so.
How We Use Information
Because almost nothing leaves your device, there is very little for us to "use." Where information does exist, it is used strictly for these purposes:
- Operating core App features: unlocking the vault, importing and organizing hidden files, and running App Lock.
- Detecting and recording failed unlock attempts locally, for your own review inside the vault.
- Serving relevant ads through Google AdMob to support free use of the App.
- Verifying, through Firebase App Check, that requests to any App-related service come from a legitimate copy of the App rather than a tampered or automated one.
We do not sell, rent, or trade any information to third parties, because we do not collect any personal information from you directly in the first place.
Data Storage & Security
All content you place into the vault — photos, videos, and documents — is encrypted using AES-256 encryption and stored in the App's private, sandboxed storage area on your device.
- There is no cloud sync. Your vault contents are never uploaded to any server operated by us or anyone else.
- Your PIN, pattern, and any biometric-unlock configuration are stored locally on your device and are never transmitted anywhere.
- Decoy vaults are isolated from your real vault and contain no reference to its existence or contents.
While we take reasonable technical measures to protect your data, no method of on-device storage is 100% immune to risk from a compromised or rooted device. We recommend keeping your device's operating system updated and using a strong, unique PIN.
Third-Party Services
Calculator Lock uses a small number of third-party SDKs to operate. These providers process limited data under their own privacy policies, independent of RH Studio:
- Google AdMob (com.google.android.gms:play-services-ads) — serves banner, app-open, and rewarded ads. May collect the advertising identifier and general usage/device data as described in Google's data disclosure.
- Firebase App Check — uses reCAPTCHA-based attestation to verify app integrity and reduce abuse; does not access your vault content.
We encourage you to review these providers' own policies:
- Google Privacy Policy — policies.google.com/privacy
- Google AdMob data disclosure — support.google.com/admob/answer/6128543
Advertising & Cookies / Ad ID
The App displays ads through Google AdMob to keep the core vault features free. AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier (and, on the web components it relies on, cookie-like technologies) to personalize ads and measure their performance.
You can limit ad personalization or opt out of interest-based ads at any time:
- On Android, go to Settings → Google → Ads and enable "Opt out of Ads Personalization," or reset your advertising ID.
- Visit Google's Ads Settings at adssettings.google.com to manage preferences across Google services.
Children's Privacy
Calculator Lock is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can address it, in line with the principles of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
Data Retention & Deletion
Since your vault data lives only on your device, you are always in control of it:
- Deleting a file from the vault removes it from your device immediately.
- Uninstalling the App permanently deletes all local vault data, including hidden files, decoy vaults, and intruder-detection photos, as part of Android's standard app-data removal.
- We retain no copy of this data on any server, because none is ever transmitted to us.
User Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights under frameworks such as the GDPR or CCPA regarding access, correction, or deletion of personal data. Because Calculator Lock does not collect or store personal data on our servers, most of these rights are already exercised directly by you, on-device:
- Access — all vault content is visible to you at any time inside the App.
- Deletion — use the in-app "Reset Vault" option to permanently erase vault content and PIN configuration, or uninstall the App entirely.
- Ad personalization objection — see the Advertising section above.
For any request relating to the limited data processed by third-party SDKs, you may also contact those providers directly, or reach out to us and we will assist where we can.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App, legal requirements, or third-party services. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
